The answer is that it is always your choice.  However, we definitely recommend that you have an inspection done by a qualified Home Inspector.  They take a very in depth look at all aspects of the contruction of the property including roof, insulation, electrical, plumbing, etc.  Although they are only able to look at what is currently going on, it will help you make an informed choice about what you are buying!
